In 1962, James Bratton began contracting masonry work as Wilkinson and Bratton Ptr. In 1964, he contracted masonry work as James A. Bratton and in 1972, he incorporated as Bratton Masonry, Inc. He began Bratton Construction in 1977 building custom homes and apartment complexes.
As a builder, he has built several apartment complexes with over 1,000 units, seven housing subdivisions from Coalinga to Clovis. He has built several custom homes and remodeled over 150. As a developer, he has completed Old Ranch Park in Prather, CA as well as Mallard Meadows in Prather, CA. Echo Park Plaza in Coalinga, Kingsburg Business Park, and Madera Airport Plaza.
As a masonry contractor, he has had many projects to be proud of. Just recently, he and his team have finished the 49ers stadium in San Francisco, the San Francisco Giant’s stadium, and is currently working on the new Apple computers building.
One of his favorite projects was his personal residence – that has been named the Clovis Castle. The Clovis Castle is now being leased by a wedding and event planner as a venue. This was built completely out of stone found right on the property. Brick pavers and stone walls line the driveway from the entry to the house. You will even find separate quarters with a spiral staircase and elevator to the top of the light house.
